The purpose of a paintball gun barrel may not be what you think it is. Sure the barrel is there to direct the paintball to the intended target, but let’s be honest—almost any barrel can do that. The real purpose of the paintball gun barrel is to provide the necessary time and space to get your paintball traveling from ZERO feet per second, to 300 fps. If you’re shooting a ten inch barrel that means the ball has to travel around 45,000 fps to get to 300 fps by the time the ball leaves the barrel (give or take a few thousand fps).
