I’ve been playing paintball regularly for the past 3 months now, and I felt the need for owning a maker instead of using rentals all the time (Tippman Custom 98). A friend of mine suggested the Proto SLG, since it’s a partner company for Dye, and use their same technology for their high end markers, priced for beginners.
After a few weeks of use, I felt very pleased, its lightweight, and I like the design, shoots fast enough for me and, considering the price tag and the stock barrel, its fairly accurate. It also has the eye system that prevents ball breakage inside, for it disables the trigger until the ball is fully loaded in the barrel.
Honestly, I don’t have many negative comments, other than the fact that the trigger feels fragile, even though its aluminum. But, so far, so good
I also felt its easy to disassemble and clean, it really looks like a great entry-level electronic marker. I hooked up a Dye Rotor and it looks great, I might get a longer barrel down the road. But in the meantime, if you are a beginner, but considering to play speedball regularly, I would definitely suggest this marker.
